smorty

So are we slBloggers in Smorty ? Well Yes, I know rumbling and shehal using them . But how about others ? I did a small research and found slBloggers yet to extract Smorty money. To be honest I found only three 3 out of 600 slBloggers who use smorty.. that’s strange.. isn’t it?

So what is smorty,

Smorty is a service connecting advertisers with bloggers. Advertisers can pay bloggers to write opinion posts with links back to the advertisers site.

We all know paying for POSTS on blogs is getting popular day by day. In fact you might be a better person to tell me about this. And of cause I know any slBlogger who really love to get paid for blogging will reach Smorty even I write this post or not.

But there is something more,

slBloggers and Sri lankan webmasters I strongly feel you must use Smorty to advertise on blogs, Its time to develop your blog or site to a online business model.

We as Sri lankans rarely think our blogs as our online Business. Guys, It is time to think so. I have been in Archmage and consulting on its online presence. I have been building a strategy for Archmage using Blog advertising for nearly a month. I know how important it is. And hurry up cos I’m planning to thunder Sri lankan Blogs across Smorty in a while.

I have been keeping an eagle eye on online entrepreneurs of Sri lanka. Yet, LankaFood , buyAbans and Kapruka may be the only online money makers of Sri lanka who have reached the niche successfully. Yet, they missed Smorty. But I know they will be in it very soon.

Now you might say “what the hell they are Companies, but we are small individuals having small blogs ! ” and why are we going to advertise, what the hell are we selling ?…

I will be very interested on talking of that next time.. (hint: Google “Affiliate Marketting”)

OK ! before advertising first you need to earn from Smorty ,

Tips :

  • Create a paypal using a foreign account holder. May be your aunt from US. Don’t create PayPal SL accounts because they are SEND ONLY accounts.
  • Read the rules well.

Very true, Project wonderful has that opportunity. You can earn and advertise with the same earnings..

I quite agree with you on the “We as Sri lankans rarely think our blogs as our online Business” phrase. In fact, we don’t at all.

But then, there’s a huge pit in the way. My philosophy, or rather, the general blogger philosophy is NOT to go into monetization before you build your blog. If you receive 40 uniques today and none tomorrow, then I seriously doubt that person’s chances of promoting the business model.

All in all, Smorty is really powerful, and yes, it can generate you money. But the problem with the low-traffic blogs and the occasional paid review is that most people see that blogger as a sell-out.

Once I saw a blog that posted about a powerful personality development insight - a low traffic blog. I subscribed for the sheer joy of reading through that post. And there after, he posted about some random stuff - mind you, these were not at all of his niche - and what i subscribed for. Took me a while, but when I looked at the sponsored review link, I lost all faith in that blogger - and this is something that happens pretty much everyday.

But then again, if you know your way around, you can do wonders with smorty.

Good post Niro!

I do agree with MindBlogger , when people see paid reviews they tend to shy away from that site. When I started to blog mainly about making money online I got complaints.I guess if you are trying to make money online you should say it out loud and be prepared for criticism

Yep, I agree with both of you. We have to be careful when we chose the advertisements as well. And Smorty also says this is causing some trouble to our page rank as well. Its a risk we take and a one have to be taken wisely as bloggers.

I do not think blogging is for the purpose of making money. I for one feel that blogging is for a cause and not one for making money
