You know I’m always enthusiastic to look and find (some times to steal he he..) awesome business models for web. I don’t know why, this strange feeling comes to me every minute that there are enough opportunities in the SL web market and if someone could step in they can win. Yea, I mean I love to see Sri lankan Internet Entrepreneurs born. Someday I have to be one too. Laying some foundation in May will be the start I guess. Anyhow I was thinking about this great evolution in Sri lankan Mobile market.

You know about a year ago, I proposed a system to two of my friends. Ryan of cause was so enthusiastic about it yet he switched to a marketing project. On the other hand Monora presented this idea to their University and the Proposal got accepted and became among the best five projects in Colombo University Computing Faculty. All the credit to Manora and the team. Giving an Idea is a simple thing yet developing it is the difficult task. It was something smiler to eMMa. Don’t worry I only knew about eMMa after a while. Anybody who took eMMa SMS adds concept to the commercial level, he is a brave guy. Keep up the work buddy, starting is difficult yet your site can hit the record books after sometime. eMMa your concept is mind blowing yet the business model lacks its strategies. I mean think in a Sri lankan way (like reducing the fee). Yet have a World class design for your WEB. I really feel your investment could be in vain if you don’t change the site design and strategies.

JNWNews is also a revolutionary mobile business model. Its now being competed by ADA DERANA. Both are awesome, simply because we the get most needed News alerts to our mobile. ADA DERANA might be better because we get it for free. Yet, JNWNews have taken a step forward. They have build up a concept for community news. This is risky yet very promising idea if can be handled well.

JNWNews you really have to take off your Public blog to a separate site. Readers, this Public blog gives us the facility to Post a news by sending a SMS. Why do I say to take the Public Blog to a separate site ? When we ask SMS news, Community will send so many bullshit first. He he.. Thats normal. Any community site is like that. Loads of unrelated and unnecessary stuff arrive. This could discourage your potential mobile customers. Thinking they also get News like the things the Public blog. Anyway the Admin might think otherwise. Yet, take off the PublicBlog to another site. Rather than its Just News make it Rumors. There aren’t many people who are willing to share good news for free in SL. Or to be specific spending there own Rs.2.50. Yet, they like to gossip. You know, news about parties, school cricket matches and stuff. They love to share those. And readers love to read them too. Keep an employee 24 hrs a day to filter the bullshit and post the needed. But be lenient on moderation. You need the popularity first. If can, make a system that Comments will be directly passed in to the Post Author by SMS. Simple trick to trigger him to Post more good stuff. There was a famous rumor site, now I can’t remember it. Yet, it hit a record breaking traffic margin. You could do it too. Keep in mind moderation is a difficult task if its done by your self. Let users have a saying too. Like the Digg or a WEB 2.0. Let your users rate or bury the Post. These might enhance the site.
